Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE)-based EVA Air has announced that it plans to expand its long-haul network with a new service connecting its hub to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) as of November 2025. The new route is likely going to be operated by the Boeing 787-9 fleet, although this is unconfirmed. The new addition will join existing flights to the United States to destinations including Houston (IAH), New York (JFK) and more.

A small market
Operating five times weekly, the new flights to the Texas city will begin on November 3rd, 2025, said EVA Air President Clay Sun in a press conference, cited by the Central News Agency.
The new route is interesting, particularly given that just 24,000 passengers traveled roundtrip between the two cities in the year ending July 2024, according to Simple Flying Route Analyst, Dr. James Pearson.
EVA Air says that the new route will facilitate economic relations between the two countries, as it coincides with the continued move of high-tech companies from Silicon Valley to Texas. Sun highlighted, according to Taiwan News, that the route would mean TPE is connected to the world’s third-busiest airport by passenger volume.

Connections
Pearson notes the importance of connecting traffic through TPE, which will include domestic flights, but also Hong Kong and other key cities in Southeast Asia. Considering these markets, the number of passengers flying daily each way rises to more than 300 – meaning such a route is viable, despite the low point-to-point demand.
Connecting flights will not only be important for services from Dallas. They are and will remain so for other US destinations, including from Houston (IAH) for instance, a route that was inaugurated in 2015. Pearson adds that of the 170,000 passengers that connected in Taipei from IAH, primary markets were:
- Ho Chi Minh City (SGN)
- Manila (MNL)
- Hong Kong (HKG)
- Bangkok (BKK)
- Da Nang (DAD)
An indication, therefore, of which destinations might be on the table as key connecting markets for DFW.
As the airline expands its network, its fleet will grow too. It hopes to take delivery of six Boeing 787s in early next year. Ch-aviation data shows that the carrier has nine 787-9s on order as well as five 787-10s.

United States expansion
This will be the first time that DFW will have a connection to TPE. Aside from the new flight, EVA Air currently offers service to six American destinations, as listed below per Cirium data.
Looking at the carrier’s financial results so far, for the first 10 months of the year, the Americas have proved an important market for the company. The Americas accounted for 44% of overall passenger revenue, per Taiwan News. EVA Air reported an overall 8.4% year-over-year increase in passenger revenue for the period. Sun added that revenues on the long-haul operation have seen considerable growth.
