Three Lufthansa Group airlines, namely Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa, and Eurowings, have launched the ‘Yes to Europe’ campaign just before the European Parliament (EP) elections across the European Union (EU). The goal of the campaign is to promote European ideas in the skies.
Four Europe-branded aircraft
The ‘Yes to Europe’ campaign will result in four aircraft, one each from Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa, and Eurowings, being branded with the campaign’s name on the side of the fuselage. The group has already unveiled a Lufthansa Airbus A320ceo with the special livery.
The aircraft, registered as D-AIUC, spent four days at Frankfurt Airport (FRA), having landed at one of the German carrier’s hubs on April 18. It reentered service on April 22, operating flight LH1028 from FRA to Paris Charles De Gaulle International Airport (CDG) and the return itinerary flight LH1029.
Nevertheless, the group’s announcement said that the Europe-branded Eurowings aircraft will enter service this week as well, while Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines will deploy their ‘Yes to Europe’ aircraft next week.

The Lufthansa Group indicated that it would still not be able to reach its 2019 capacity in 2024.
Second European campaign
Lufthansa plans to have all four aircraft meet at Brussels Airport (BRU) on May 13. The group had already done a similar campaign, unveiling a ‘SayYesToEurope’-liveried aircraft on April 24, 2019. The Airbus A320ceo, registered as D-AIZG, had kept the special sticker until August 2019, according to planespotters.net.
At the time, Carsten Spohr, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Lufthansa Group, said that with their vote in May, the citizens of Europe would decide the future of the European community, adding that now, more than ever, citizens needed to take a stand, take responsibility, and strengthen the idea of a united and free continent.

Lufthansa has not been shy about expressing its political sentiments with its liveries. When the FIFA World Cup happened in Qatar in November and December 2022, it unveiled an Airbus A330 with the ‘Fanhansa’ livery. The special paint job was unveiled with the message ‘#DiversityWins!’
“Lufthansa is a byword for openness, tolerance, diversity and bringing people together. The company enables its customers from all nations and cultures to connect, and welcomes everyone aboard, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, religion, nationality, identity or sexual orientation.”

Anti-right wing protests
Germany has been the home to several anti-right-wing protests across the country, especially as the far-right party, Alternative for Germany (Alternative für Deutschland, AfD), has gained popularity in recent years. The party, with alleged ties to Russia and its intelligence services, has opposed sending more weapons to Ukraine, which is currently fighting its full-scale war against Russia.

Nevertheless, the German daily Die Tageszeitung (taz) reported that various sources pin the number of anti-right-wing protesters at between 3.7 million and 4.9 million, adding that these were triggered by a meeting of far-right politicians and associates in Potsdam, Germany.
