Lufthansa’s new ‘Allegris’ cabin product has been one of the most exciting passenger experience developments in recent years, with the German flag carrier promising an upgraded experience in all classes of travel. The cabin was launched last year on select routes, and, now, the European airline has revealed a trio of new American corridors that will see the upgraded experience made available.

Three is a magic number

As detailed by the wider Lufthansa

Group in a statement released this morning, the German flag carrier will begin the rollout of the new Allegris cabin product on its latest batch of routes from March 30th of this year. From this date onwards, Allegris will be available on the national airline’s flights from its hub at Munich Airport (MUC) to San Diego International (SAN). This will be a welcome bonus to passengers on the route, with Heiko Reitz, Lufthansa’s Chief Customer Officer, explaining that:

“We currently have nine A350-900s with Allegris onboard at Lufthansa, six of which already offer our customers the new, highly exclusive first class. Overall, our new cabin interior is extremely popular with guests, with satisfaction rates in business class of well over 90%.”

Following the introduction of Allegris on the route from Munich to San Diego on March 30th of this year, the new cabin product will also be rolled out on the route from the Bavarian capital to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) on April 15th, 2025. In August, Lufthansa will complete the trio of routes on which Allegris is newly offered by launching it on the corridor from Munich to Charlotte (CLT).

Almost doubling the original offering

The introduction of the new Allegris cabin product on this trio of American routes will see the number of corridors on which it is offered almost double. Indeed, these three new routes join four that were already planned, with Lufthansa revealing in December that Allegris flights from Munich to Chicago (ORD), San Francisco (SFO), and Shanghai (PVG) would be available from March 30th. Additionally, the German flag carrier will continue offering Allegris on its existing route to Bengaluru (BLR).

Allegris has been available on the Bengaluru route since November 2024, with these flights being operated by the German flag carrier’s suitably equipped Airbus A350-900. They originate in Munich, as, while Lufthansa also serves Bengaluru from its other main long-haul hub at Frankfurt Airport

, it does so with older Airbus A340s and Boeing 747s without Allegris cabins. Commenting on the rollout of the new cabin product on Lufthansa’s long-haul network, Lufthansa CCO Heiko Reitz added:

“I am delighted that we are offering our guests Lufthansa Allegris on more and more routes. For flights to the USA alone, customers can choose between five destinations from Munich.”

How are Lufthansa’s Allegris aircraft configured?

According to current fleet data made available by aeroLOPA, Lufthansa configures its Allegris-equipped Airbus

A350-900s in a four-class configuration with space for 267 passengers onboard. This figure includes four seats in first class (including the extra-special Suite Plus) and 38 in business class. This cabin features several special supplementary seats, such as the Business Class Suite, the Extra Space Seat, the Privacy Seat, and the Extra Long Bed, which are bookable for an extra fee.

Meanwhile, the premium economy cabin onboard Lufthansa’s Allegris-equipped Airbus A350-900s features 24 premium economy recliners in a seven-abreast 2-3-2 layout, as well as 201 economy class seats in the usual nine-abreast 3-3-3 configuration. According to Lufthansa, the former of these cabin products features a hard shell, meaning that reclining does not affect the space of passengers behind.

However, it hasn’t been all plain sailing with the rollout of Allegris at Lufthansa. Indeed, as Simple Flying reported in December of 2024, the German flag carrier is experiencing delivery delays concerning the Boeing

787-9 aircraft that will also be fitted with the Allegris cabin. These have reportedly arisen due to the fact that the United States Federal Aviation Administration has declined to approve the seats.
