RIYADH : The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has added Zhonggu Logistics’ new CRX shipping service to Jeddah Islamic Port. This aims to enhance the competitiveness of Saudi ports regionally and globally, support the smooth flow of international trade, and contribute to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
The new shipping service connects Jeddah Islamic Port with the ports of Ningbo and Nansha in China, Aden in Yemen, Sokhna in Egypt, and Aqaba in Jordan, with a handling capacity of up to 1,500 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units).
This initiative is part of Mawani’s efforts to improve the Kingdom’s ranking in global performance indicators and enhance the efficiency of operations at Jeddah Islamic Port. This will support national exports, aligning with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which seeks to establish the Kingdom as a global logistics hub and a link between three continents.
It is worth mentioning that Jeddah Islamic Port is the largest on the Red Sea coast thanks to its strategic location and its (62) multi-purpose berths, which gives it a pivotal position at the regional and international levels, and contributes an active role in enhancing the Kingdom’s leadership in the maritime sector.
