Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed the Silver Jubilee Celebration of Uttarakhand’s formation in Dehradun, where he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development projects worth over ₹8,140 crore across sectors including drinking water, irrigation, education, energy, sports, and skill development.

Greeting the people of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, the Prime Minister recalled the statehood struggle and said, “Seeing the heights Uttarakhand has reached today, it is natural for every person who once struggled for the creation of this beautiful state to feel happy.” Calling this the “defining era of Uttarakhand’s rise and progress,” Shri Modi noted the transformation from a ₹4,000-crore budget 25 years ago to over ₹1 lakh crore today.

Among key projects inaugurated were Dehradun water supply coverage under the AMRUT scheme, solar power plants in government buildings, an electrical substation in Pithoragarh, and an AstroTurf Hockey Ground at Haldwani. Foundation stones were laid for the Song Dam Drinking Water Project and the Jamrani Dam Multipurpose Project, along with new educational and dairy facilities.

Emphasizing connectivity as a growth driver, PM Modi said over ₹2 lakh crore worth of infrastructure projects are underway, including the Rishikesh–Karnaprayag rail line, Delhi–Dehradun Expressway, and ropeways to Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib.

The Prime Minister described Uttarakhand as “the heartbeat of India’s spiritual life” and envisioned it as the “Spiritual Capital of the World.” He also praised the House of Himalayas initiative, GI-tagged products like Badri cow ghee and Bedu fruit, and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s leadership in governance reforms.
