Opera Now – ENO announces new Chief Executive

English National Opera has announced Helen Shute as its new CEO, succeeding Jenny Mollica. Shute is currently Chief Executive and Executive Producer of the dance company Rambert, a role she has held since 2017. Shute will also become Chief Executive of London Coliseum Limited, taking up both roles in November 2026 with Mollica stepping down in May. 

At Rambert, Shute has led partnerships with The Royal Ballet and Manchester International Festival expanding Rambert’s international reach and developing new initiatives, including Rambert2, a new ensemble for early career dancers.

Prior to her role at Rambert, Shute was COO of the TV and film production company House Productions and prior to this co-founded Hofesh Shechter Companyin 2008.

Speaking of her new appointment, Shute said: ‘I’m delighted to join English National Opera and London Coliseum Limited … It’s an honour to build on Jenny Mollica and her brilliant leadership team’s achievements and to join an exceptional group of artists, staff and partners who believe … that opera should belong to everyone.’
