MoS Coal & Mines Satish Chandra Dubey Reviews SECL Operations, Launches Key Digital Initiatives – Indian PSU
Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey undertook a comprehensive review of operations at South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) during his one-day visit, highlighting the company’s critical role in strengthening India’s energy security.
Upon arrival at SECL Headquarters, the Minister paid floral tribute at the Coal Miners’ Memorial, acknowledging the immense contribution of coal workers to nation-building and the country’s energy needs.

Comprehensive Review of Operations
Chairing a high-level review meeting, the Minister assessed key operational and strategic areas including coal production, dispatch, quality management, mine safety, coal gasification, mine closure, environmental initiatives, digitisation, CSR activities and future roadmaps.
Senior officials including SECL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Harish Duhan, functional directors, and ministry representatives were present.
The Minister emphasised:
- Adoption of safe and sustainable mining practices
- Increased use of modern technology
- Enhancing operational efficiency
- Strengthening environmental responsibility
He noted that SECL continues to play a pivotal role in ensuring the nation’s energy security and commended its performance across production, safety and environmental parameters.

Strong Production Performance
Highlighting operational achievements, CMD Harish Duhan informed that SECL has contributed 26.86 million tonnes to Coal India Limited’s milestone production of 100 million tonnes so far in FY 2026–27.
He reaffirmed SECL’s commitment to meeting national energy demands under the guidance of the Ministry of Coal.
Digital Transformation Push
A key highlight of the visit was the launch of two major digital initiatives:
- e-DADAS Portal (Design and Drawings Approval in SECL)
Enables online approval and monitoring of engineering designs related to FMC systems, CHP-Silos, railway sidings, and in-pit conveyor systems, ensuring transparency and time-bound execution. - Hospital Management and Information System (HMIS)
Aims to digitise healthcare services across SECL hospitals by streamlining patient records, improving service delivery, and enhancing medical monitoring.
The Minister stressed that digitalisation will significantly improve governance, efficiency and transparency in PSU operations.
Focus on Inclusive Development
The Minister also called for strengthening CSR efforts, ensuring that development benefits reach the last mile in coalfield regions, particularly focusing on community welfare and inclusive growth.
