BCCL CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal Meets NCST Member Dr. Asha Lakra, Discusses Tribal Welfare and Employee Issues – Indian PSU
In a significant step towards strengthening employee welfare and tribal development initiatives, BCCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) Manoj Kumar Agarwal paid a courtesy call on Dr. Asha Lakra, Member of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST), at the Circuit House in Bokaro on Wednesday.
The meeting was held following a communication from the Director’s Office of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes and a hearing conducted at the Commission level. BCCL Director (Human Resources) Murali Krishna Ramaiah also attended the discussion.
During the meeting, detailed deliberations were held on issues concerning Scheduled Tribe employees and officers working at BCCL Headquarters, Coal Bhawan, Dhanbad. The discussions focused on addressing their concerns, strengthening employee welfare measures, and ensuring effective implementation of safeguards and benefits available to tribal communities.
The two sides also exchanged views on tribal welfare, inclusive development, and BCCL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of communities in the coal-bearing regions.
The meeting reviewed compliance with recommendations made during previous NCST hearings and examined measures to protect employees’ interests while fostering an inclusive, equitable, and positive workplace environment.
Senior officials present during the meeting included Department Head (Administration) Manish Mishra, Nodal Officer (SC/ST Cell) Nirmala Kiran, and other senior officers of BCCL.
Dr. Asha Lakra emphasized the importance of continuing efforts for the upliftment of vulnerable and disadvantaged sections of society and highlighted the need for sustained public welfare initiatives in the region.
Reaffirming BCCL’s commitment to social responsibility, CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal assured that the company would continue to prioritize employee welfare, protect the interests of Scheduled Tribe employees, and effectively implement community development and public welfare programmes.
The interaction underscored BCCL’s commitment to inclusive growth, social justice, and the welfare of tribal communities, while reinforcing cooperation with statutory institutions such as the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes.
