Gateway Distriparks launches weekly Import Block Train Service from Pipavav Port to North India ICDs
PIPAVAV : Gateway Distriparks Limited (GDL) has launched a weekly Import Block Train Service for Maersk Shipping Line and its customers, connecting Pipavav Port with ICD Garhi Harsaru (Gurugram), ICD Piyala (Faridabad) and ICD Sahnewal (Ludhiana). The new service is aimed at providing importers with a reliable, efficient and sustainable rail-based solution for inland movement of import containers.
The inaugural train was flagged off on 30 June 2026, marking another milestone in Gateway Distriparks’ commitment to strengthening multimodal logistics and enhancing supply chain efficiency for customers across North India.
Designed with fixed weekly departures, the dedicated rail service offers importers greater predictability in cargo movement, enabling improved inventory planning, reduced transit uncertainties and faster evacuation of import containers from Pipavav Port to key inland consumption and industrial centres.
The service provides direct rail connectivity to strategically located Inland Container Depots (ICDs) at Garhi Harsaru, Piyala and Sahnewal, ensuring seamless access to major manufacturing hubs and markets across Haryana, Punjab and the National Capital Region.
Importers are expected to benefit from faster cargo movement, improved supply chain visibility, reduced dependence on road transportation and cost-effective inland logistics. The integrated service also leverages Gateway Distriparks’ extensive rail and ICD network to provide end-to-end logistics support, enabling efficient cargo handling and timely deliveries.
