Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) held a high-level coordination meeting at its Koyla Bhawan headquarters to comprehensively review the company’s operational performance, coal production, financial position and future action plan. The meeting was chaired by BCCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) Manoj Kumar Agarwal.

Senior officials present at the meeting included Director (Human Resources) Murali Krishna Ramaiya, Director (Finance) Rajesh Kumar, CISF Commandant Mukesh Kumar Gupta, Ajay Tripathi, General Managers of Koyla Bhawan Headquarters, heads of departments and other officers. Director (Technical/Operations) Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Technical/Projects & Planning) Rajiv Kumar Sinha, Security Advisor Vipul Shukla and newly appointed CISF DIG Rajiv Mishra joined the meeting virtually.

The meeting began with a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation reviewing the operational performance of all BCCL areas. Discussions covered coal production and dispatch, coal quality, transportation capacity, washery performance, mine safety, progress of new and upcoming patches, cost reduction, revenue enhancement, region-wise financial performance, pre-monsoon preparedness, capacity utilisation, implementation of the Jharia Master Plan, CAPEX progress and region-specific support required to enhance production.

Director (Technical/Operations) Sanjay Kumar Singh conducted a detailed review of the Annual Action Plan (AAP), comparing targets with achievements across all operational regions. The review assessed production, dispatch, overburden (OB) removal, machinery availability and utilisation, coal quality, transportation, safety measures, monsoon preparedness and other operational parameters. Regional General Managers also highlighted challenges in meeting production targets and discussed solutions, resource optimisation and collaborative measures.

Addressing the meeting, CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal said BCCL has completed extensive pre-monsoon preparations, including arrangements for pumping, cabling and drainage across all mining areas. He instructed Regional General Managers to ensure strict compliance with safety standards, effectively tackle waterlogging and other monsoon-related challenges, and maintain uninterrupted coal production and mining operations.

He emphasised that coal production, dispatch, OB removal, quality and transportation remain the pillars of BCCL’s operational and financial performance. Calling for teamwork and accountability, he urged officers and employees to maximise productivity through efficient utilisation of available resources, cost optimisation and continuous improvement in operational efficiency.

The CMD also directed officials to focus on improving washed coal yield from washeries and maintaining stringent coal quality standards throughout the production chain.

A key decision taken during the meeting was the constitution of a panel of senior General Manager-level officers at the headquarters to provide technical and operational support to Regional General Managers and washery divisions. The panel will regularly monitor operational activities, review progress and ensure timely guidance and coordination wherever required.

The meeting also undertook a detailed review of loss-making mines. Discussions focused on improving their operational and financial performance through better workforce utilisation, staff rationalisation, optimum deployment of machinery and equipment, capacity enhancement and cost-control measures. Regional General Managers presented their requirements relating to manpower, machinery and other essential resources, with the headquarters assuring necessary support.
