Alaska Airlines members can earn and redeem miles with all other members of oneworld. They can also enjoy Mileage Plan elite status (equivalent to oneworld tier levels Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald). Being a oneworld member gives the Mileage Plan a good deal of flexibility.

While Alaska Airlines’ Mileage Plan has experienced recent devaluations, its miles are still some of North America’s most sought-after airline points. Members can redeem Alaska miles for a ticket and use their status with that partner’s loyalty program (such asAmerican AAdvantage) for extra benefits. In other words, it is against the rules to redeem Alaska Airlines Miles points on American Airlines and then use American Airlines elite status for upgrades.
