IIM Jammu Concludes Phase I of Leadership Development Programme for SAIL Young Managers – Indian PSU
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu has successfully concluded the first phase of the Leadership Development Programme for Young Managers (Batch-V) for executives of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). The five-day executive training programme concluded on July 10, 2026, with the participation of 48 young managers, focusing on strengthening leadership capabilities, strategic thinking, and collaborative management skills.
The valedictory session commenced with a welcome address and programme report by Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean (Faculty & Research) and Programme Director, who highlighted the objectives, structure, and key learning outcomes of the programme. He emphasized the institute’s focus on developing agile, future-ready leaders capable of addressing the evolving challenges of the corporate world.
Participants described the programme as a highly enriching and transformative learning experience. They also suggested deeper engagement between IIM Jammu and SAIL through faculty visits to SAIL plants for the development of plant-based case studies and case-led learning modules. According to the participants, such collaborations would help convert real-world industrial challenges into practical management insights while strengthening industry-academia partnerships.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Prashant Mishra, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy, IIM Jammu, said leadership is a continuous journey of learning, adaptation, and innovation. He noted that executive education programmes play a critical role in enhancing managerial competencies, encouraging strategic thinking, and preparing professionals to lead effectively in an increasingly dynamic business environment.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Ramswarup Bhaskar, Programme Director, who acknowledged the support of SAIL leadership, IIM Jammu’s administration, faculty members, participants, and the organizing team for the successful execution of the programme.
The programme reaffirmed IIM Jammu’s commitment to delivering high-quality executive education and promoting stronger industry-academia collaboration through leadership development and managerial excellence. The initiative was coordinated by the Executive Education and Consultancy division of IIM Jammu.
