
The Central Government has appointed Anurag Kumar (AGMUT:1994) as the new Commissioner of Police, Delhi, replacing Satish Golcha (AGMUT:1992).
The appointment was made by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) with immediate effect. Anurag Kumar, who was serving as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB), is regarded as an experienced officer with extensive expertise in intelligence gathering, internal security and policing.
As per the official order, outgoing Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha has been directed to report to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi for his next assignment after handing over charge.
Anurag Kumar has held several important assignments during his distinguished career in the AGMUT cadre and has served in key intelligence and security-related positions. His appointment comes at a time when Delhi Police continues to play a crucial role in maintaining law and order, managing VIP security, counter-terrorism operations and policing the national capital.
The appointment is part of the Centre’s senior-level administrative reshuffle involving top police leadership.
