BCCL CMD Reviews Production, Operational Efficiency and Financial Performance at Coordination Meeting – Indian PSU

A coordination meeting was held today at Koyla Bhawan headquarters to review the company’s operational activities, production progress, financial performance, and future action plans. The meeting was chaired by BCCL CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal.

On the occasion, Director (Human Resources) Murali Krishna Ramaiya, Director (Technical/Operations) Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Finance) Rajesh Kumar, Director (Technical/Project & Planning) Rajiv Kumar Sinha, Regional General Managers, General Managers of Koyla Bhawan headquarters, Heads of various departments, senior officers of CISF, and other officers and staff were present.

During the meeting, the operational performance of all regions was reviewed through a PowerPoint presentation. Key operational indicators discussed included coal production, dispatch and quality, transportation capacity, washery performance, safety, status of new and upcoming patches, cost reduction, revenue enhancement, region-wise financial performance, monsoon preparedness, uninterrupted production during the rainy season, capacity utilization, progress in the implementation of the Jharia Master Plan, capex, and the support required for production growth. Targets versus achievements under the annual action plan were reviewed with all Regional General Managers. Challenges in achieving targets, possible solutions, effective resource utilization, and necessary support measures were also discussed.

The meeting reviewed the action taken on decisions made during the previous review meeting and directed early compliance of pending issues. Other important matters, including security arrangements and implementation of earlier decisions, were also reviewed. Special emphasis was laid on maximizing washed coal yield through washeries, ensuring coal quality at every level, and continuously improving production and quality standards.

The CMD directed that all contract works should be executed as per the prescribed work schedule and monitored regularly. He instructed officials to review the performance of hired patches operating across all areas and ensure their operations adhere to the prescribed timelines. He also stressed continuous improvement in operational efficiency, with special emphasis on enhancing productivity and profitability. Directions were issued to review loss-making hired mines, take necessary corrective measures, and ensure timely payments for all contract works in accordance with work progress.

The CMD also emphasized livelihood empowerment of rehabilitated families under the Jharia Master Plan and directed the concerned officials to ensure employment is provided in accordance with applicable rules.

The meeting was informed that additional CISF personnel have been deployed across various company areas, yielding positive results. Effective control of coal theft has led to increased coal sales through e-auctions and better premiums, positively impacting the company’s revenue.

Addressing the gathering, the CMD said that coal production, dispatch, and smooth operational activities form the foundation of the company’s progress and financial strength, while also ensuring the nation’s energy security and supporting the steel sector. He urged all officers to work with team spirit, responsibility, and dedication to achieve the company’s targets within the stipulated timeframe.

He said that pumping, cabling, drainage, and other essential arrangements had been completed across all operational areas ahead of the monsoon. He directed all Regional General Managers to ensure strict compliance with safety standards and effectively manage waterlogging and other potential mining challenges so that production and operational activities continue without disruption.

The CMD further stated that the comprehensive amendments to the MMDR Act have strengthened control over illegal mining and other undesirable activities. He urged all operational areas to take advantage of the improved environment and ensure the achievement of the company’s production and dispatch targets.

Concluding the meeting, the CMD emphasized the optimal utilization of available resources, continuous improvement in operational efficiency, and timely execution of projects. He stated that achieving production targets while maintaining a safe, transparent, and accountable work culture remains the cornerstone of the company’s sustained growth and contribution to India’s energy security.
