BCCL Intensifies Anti-Illegal Mining Drive; 19 Locations Raided, 136 Vehicles Checked – Indian PSU
Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), in coordination with the CISF and local administration, has intensified its campaign against illegal mining, coal theft, illegal coal storage and unauthorised transportation across its mining and transportation areas.
The intensive checking campaign is being conducted as part of the Government of India’s “Zero Coal Leakage Tolerance Policy”, with BCCL deploying area domination, intelligence-based raids, drone surveillance, intensive patrolling and special vehicle-checking operations at sensitive and identified hotspots.
During the latest operation, raids and intensive searches were conducted at 19 locations. No active illegal mining, illegal coal storage or coal theft activity was detected at the locations searched.
A joint raid and search operation was also conducted by CISF and local police in the Luchhibad area of CV Area (Basantimata). A total of 29 personnel participated in the operation. No active illegal mining, illegal coal storage or other suspicious activity was found.
Drone Surveillance Covers Key BCCL Locations
Drone surveillance was carried out at several important locations to strengthen monitoring and identify any suspicious activity.
In the Block II area, the BOCP, Benidih coal dump and railway siding, Ambe Mines, Nadkhurki coal dump and Keshargarh siding were found to be normal.
Some rat holes were detected at Jamunia Mines, but no suspicious activity was observed. BCCL said filling work on the identified rat holes is underway.
Similarly, the Kujama Patch, NTCD, V-Patch, RS-06/09, F-Patch and DP-06 areas of NTST in the Lodna area were found to be normal during surveillance.
136 Vehicles Checked for Illegal Coal Transportation
Special vehicle-checking drives were conducted at major checkpoints, coal dumps, railway sidings and transportation routes to verify coal movement and documentation in accordance with the provisions of the MMDR Act.
A total of 136 vehicles were inspected, of which 114 were verified through the M-Parivahan app. BCCL said no vehicle showed suspicious activity or discrepancies in documentation, and the documents and transportation details of the verified vehicles were found to be valid.
The company has said that area domination, intensive patrolling, drone surveillance and deployment of Quick Response Teams (QRTs) and Special Response Teams (SRTs) are continuing across its mining and transportation areas.
BCCL management is also coordinating continuously with CISF and the local administration to plug identified illegal outlets and strengthen security arrangements at sensitive locations.
The company reiterated its commitment to protecting national assets and achieving the “Zero Coal Leakage” objective. BCCL said such operations will continue in a sustained, intensive, transparent and lawful manner to curb illegal mining, coal theft, illegal coal storage and unauthorised coal transportation.

BCCL has urged people to report information regarding coal theft, illegal mining, illegal coal storage, illegal transportation or any suspicious activity related to the coal sector.
