Success in freight transportation is no longer defined solely by controlling transportation costs, but by creating resilient, data-driven transportation networks that support broader business objectives, according to a report from the transportation and supply chain service provider Lily Transportation and the transportation solution provider Transervice Logistics Inc.
In a report titled “Beyond the Freight Cycle,” the partners describe six themes in the freight sector, calling them interconnected market realities:
- Liability is rising
- Volatility is the new normal
- Flexibility is the new competitive advantage
- Forecasting is becoming a competitive advantage
- What gets measured gets improved
- Transportation has earned a seat in the boardroom
According to the authors, organizations that improve visibility, strengthen forecasting, embrace flexible transportation strategies, and prioritize safety and operational performance will be better equipped to navigate uncertainty while delivering consistent service.
