BCCL Holds Special Review Meeting at Coal Bhawan to Drive Production, Quality and Safety – Indian PSU
A special review-cum-interaction meeting was held at Koyla Bhawan Headquarters to assess the performance of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) and review measures to further strengthen production, quality, safety and operational efficiency.
The meeting was chaired by BCCL CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal and attended by Coal India Director (Technical) Achyut Ghatak, Director (Finance/HR) Rajesh Kumar, Director (Technical/Projects & Planning) Rajiv Kumar Sinha, Executive Director (Production) Anand, General Managers at Koyla Bhawan Headquarters and heads of various departments. General Managers, regional officers and senior officials from different regions participated virtually.
The meeting reviewed key performance indicators covering physical and financial performance, coal production, washery operations, safety, sales and quality. A detailed presentation highlighted the company’s current operational performance and measures being undertaken to improve efficiency.
Discussions focused on timely implementation of projects, production growth, improvement in coal quality, compliance with safety standards, cost control, technological innovation and optimum utilisation of resources.
Agarwal said BCCL is pursuing a positive and forward-looking approach, with sustained focus on improving performance across key operational areas. He highlighted the importance of new projects, washery operations, coal quality, cost control, technological innovation and better resource utilisation.
He said continuous efforts have resulted in an increase in washery feed and washed coal production, besides a significant improvement in coal quality. He stressed the need for stronger quality control mechanisms and effective monitoring to ensure timely completion of projects and other critical works.
Agarwal also emphasised that the company would continue to focus on achieving its production targets for 2026-27 while improving overall operational performance.
Ghatak stressed the need to maintain uninterrupted coal production while keeping safety as the foremost priority. He called for focused efforts to achieve the targets set for 2026-27 and sustain the gains made in coal quality.
He also emphasised the need to further improve washery feed and washed coal production, while increasing coal production and dispatch. With demand for coal rising across sectors, particularly the power sector, he called for leveraging the opportunity to strengthen production, dispatch and profitability.
Senior officials participating in the meeting shared suggestions and field-level experiences across various operational areas. The discussions highlighted the importance of coordinated, result-oriented efforts to improve performance and achieve the company’s operational and financial objectives.
