CCL’s 40th Zonal Mine Rescue Competition Concludes; Barka-Sayal Team Emerges Overall Champion – Indian PSU
The four-day 40th Zonal Mine Rescue Competition-2026, organised by Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), concluded at the Sangam Auditorium of the Gangotri Convention Center at CCL Headquarters, Ranchi, with the winning teams and outstanding participants receiving awards.
The closing and prize distribution ceremony was inaugurated by CCL CMD Nilendu Kumar Singh along with senior officials of the Directorate of Mines Safety and CCL.
Students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, CCL, Rajendra Nagar, Ranchi, presented a welcome song followed by a dance and drama performance.
General Manager (Safety & Rescue), CCL, Vinod Kumar welcomed the Chief Judge, judges, officers, employees and participants.
Deputy Director General, Directorate of Mines Safety (South-East), Shyam Sundar Prasad, commended the performance of CCL teams and stressed the need to integrate new technologies into mine rescue operations. He also offered suggestions for the upcoming All India Mine Rescue Competition 2026.
CCL CMD Nilendu Kumar Singh praised the dedication, preparedness and team spirit demonstrated by the participants. He said mine rescue personnel form a vital component of the mining industry’s safety system and reiterated CCL’s commitment to successfully hosting the All India Mine Rescue Competition 2026.
Barka-Sayal Wins Overall Championship
The Barka-Sayal region team emerged Overall Champion, securing second positions in both Rescue & Recovery and the Relay Race.
The Amrapali and Chandragupta area team finished second overall, securing third position in Rescue & Recovery and second positions in First Aid Practical and Statutory events.
The Argada region team secured third position overall and finished second in the Online Theory Examination.
Individual Awards
Nadeem Rehman Alam of the Amrapali and Chandragupta team was awarded Overall Best Captain, while Sachchidanand Kumar of the Argada team received the Second Best Captain award.
Hitesh Jha of the Kuju team was named Best Member, with Manish Kumar Singh of the Barka-Sayal team receiving the Second Best Member award.
During the competition, mine rescue teams from different CCL regions demonstrated their skills in technical and practical events, showcasing quick decision-making, teamwork, courage and operational efficiency.
The competition also provided an opportunity to strengthen coordination and preparedness among mine rescue teams for effective response during mine emergencies and disasters.
Amarendra Kumar, Superintendent, Mines Rescue Center, Ramgarh, proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the guests, judges, participants, officials and staff involved in organising the event.
With this, CCL’s 40th Zonal Mine Rescue Competition-2026 concluded successfully.
