A joint team of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) has seized 129.730 tonnes of illegally stored coal from Indra Gram under the Charhi police station area, following intelligence generated through drone surveillance.

The operation was carried out as part of intensified efforts by CCL and CISF to curb illegal coal mining, transportation and storage in the company’s operational areas.

According to officials, drone-based surveillance helped identify the suspected illegal coal stock at Indra Gram. Acting on the information, a joint CISF-CCL team conducted a coordinated operation and recovered approximately 129.730 tonnes of coal from the site.

The seized coal was taken into custody as per the prescribed procedure, while further action is being initiated in coordination with the local administration and police authorities.

The latest seizure highlights the growing use of drone technology for surveillance of vulnerable areas and detection of illegal coal activities. CCL and CISF have been strengthening their field-level coordination to identify illegal coal stocks and prevent pilferage from coal-producing areas.

The company has been maintaining heightened vigilance across its operational areas, particularly in locations vulnerable to illegal mining and unauthorised coal transportation.

The joint action also underscores the importance of technology-enabled surveillance and coordinated enforcement in protecting coal resources and checking losses arising from illegal activities.
