NTPC REL Invites EPC Bids for 900 MW Solar Project in Andhra Pradesh; Land and 400 kV Transmission Line Included – Indian PSU
NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited, has invited bids for the development of a 900 MW inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected, ground-mounted solar photovoltaic project near its existing Kurnool Solar Project in Andhra Pradesh.
The tender covers the complete engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) package, including land acquisition, solar module supply, power evacuation infrastructure and operation and maintenance (O&M) services. The project is aimed at expanding NTPC’s renewable energy portfolio and strengthening its solar generation capacity.
According to the tender notice, the last date for submission of bids is November 16, 2026, at 3:00 PM, with bid opening scheduled for 3:30 PM on the same day.
Land Acquisition and Transfer Part of EPC Package
A key feature of the tender is the inclusion of land procurement within the EPC package. The selected bidder will be responsible for identifying and acquiring suitable, encumbrance-free land for the solar project and the owner’s Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project.
The bidder must facilitate the transfer of ownership or lease rights over the land in favour of NTPC REL, in accordance with the tender conditions. This approach integrates land arrangements with project execution rather than treating land procurement as a separate activity.
400 kV Transmission Infrastructure Planned
The scope of work extends beyond the installation of solar panels to include the infrastructure required to evacuate power from the plant into the grid.
The successful bidder will be required to develop a dedicated 400 kV transmission line connecting the project to NTPC REL’s Kurnool Solar Project Pooling Substation (PSS). The bidder will also be responsible for securing the necessary right of way for the transmission line.
The package includes the supply, erection and commissioning of a new 400 kV terminal line bay at the pooling substation, including bus extension wherever required.
The selected contractor will also establish the power evacuation system up to the designated pooling substation and install telemetry infrastructure up to the ISTS pooling substation through the Kurnool facility.
Complete Solar Project Execution Under EPC Contract
The EPC contractor will undertake the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, transportation, installation, testing and commissioning of the grid-connected solar photovoltaic plant.
The package also includes associated civil, structural and electrical works, along with solar module supply and the supporting infrastructure required for grid connectivity.
By combining generation facilities, land arrangements and transmission infrastructure under one package, NTPC REL is seeking an integrated execution framework for the 900 MW project.
Three-Year Operation and Maintenance
The selected bidder will also be responsible for operating and maintaining the solar plant after commissioning, as stipulated in the tender. The scope includes the provision of consumables and spare parts for three years from the date of commissioning.
The arrangement is intended to cover not only construction and commissioning but also the initial operating period of the facility.
NTPC’s Renewable Energy Expansion
The Kurnool project adds to NTPC’s ongoing efforts to expand its renewable energy capacity through large-scale solar developments. Andhra Pradesh has emerged as an important location for utility-scale solar projects, supported by its renewable energy potential and grid-connected project infrastructure.
The 900 MW tender brings together solar generation, land procurement, high-voltage transmission connectivity and initial O&M responsibilities in a single EPC package. The outcome of the bidding process will determine the contractor responsible for delivering the project.
