The National Karmayogi Massive Public Service Programme, organised under the Rashtriya Karmayogi initiative, commenced today with a two-day training session for officers and employees of the Labour Department, Dhanbad. The programme is being held on November 17–18 at Kalyan Bhawan, Human Resource Development (HRD), Jagjivan Nagar, with Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) extending comprehensive logistical support, including the venue.
The training programme has been organised by the Office of the Deputy Labour Commissioner (Central), Dhanbad, under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India. A total of 33 officials—including RLC (Central), ALC (Central), LEO (Central), and other departmental personnel from the Dhanbad region—are participating.
Focus on Public Service Values and Administrative Transformation
Anup Kumar Roy, General Manager (HRD), BCCL, attended the inaugural session as the special guest. Addressing the participants, he said the essence of government service lies in responsibility, sensitivity, and trust towards the public. He highlighted that the Karmayogi programme is a powerful tool to bring positive, lasting, and effective administrative reforms, as it enhances both employee efficiency and organisational responsiveness.
He further added that BCCL has consistently supported social, administrative, and human-resource development initiatives and will continue to promote such training, capacity-building programmes, and public service-oriented campaigns in the future.
Sessions Conducted by Senior Trainers
The sessions were conducted by Sumit, Deputy Labour Commissioner (Central), Dhanbad; Manish Kumar Shankar, Regional Labour Commissioner (Central), Dhanbad; and Chiranjeev Mandal, Manager (Mining), CMC, BCCL Headquarters, who served as master trainers.
Participants were briefed on the training materials and online modules available on the iGOT-Karmayogi platform. They explored key topics such as the qualities and behaviours of a Karmayogi, the intrinsic purpose of public service, practical approaches to adopting a service-oriented mindset, and aligning individual roles with national development goals.
Mission Karmayogi: Building a Citizen-Centric Work Culture
Under Mission Karmayogi, the objective is to foster a genuine sense of service among government employees, ensuring a purposeful, citizen-centric, and accountable work culture. The programme aims to inculcate compassion, accountability, proactiveness, and a strong sense of responsibility in the government workforce.
Event Support and Coordination
The event began with a formal welcome ceremony. In his welcome address, Deepak Jha, Manager (Mining), explained the programme’s structure, objectives, training methodology, and upcoming activities.
The HRD team—including Radheshyam Dubey, Senior Manager (Mining); Umesh Paswan, Senior Manager (Excavation); and others—extended special support to ensure the programme’s success. The proceedings were conducted by Shri Deepak Kumar, Manager (Mining), who also delivered the vote of thanks.
