If you’ve been following Tesla for a fairly long time, you’re probably familiar with the “two weeks” meme. Several years ago, Elon Musk kept promising that a notable Full Self Driving update would be coming in two weeks, and then kept not delivering and saying again that it was just “two weeks” away. We almost made t-shirts with “Two Weeks” printed on them at one point. Well, now we’re in new territory.

“Full Self Driving” has gotten better and better, and Tesla started rolling out Robotaxi pilots last year. Last July, Elon Musk said that Tesla’s Robotaxi service would be covering 50% of the US population by the end of 2025. The company missed that target, but kept chugging away and has been preparing for a massive rollout.

With pilot programs underway now in 15–20 major US cities, including NYC, Chicago, Los Angeles, DC, Orlando, Miami, Tampa, Atlanta, Phoenix, Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, San Jose, San Francisco, San Diego, and reportedly more, the company is getting ready to cover a majority of the US population with Robotaxi service.

In fact, the latest news is that Tesla Robotaxi service is about to go live to the public at large, and will be covering a full 70% of the US population in … two weeks.

Yes, that means anyone who wants to will be able to download the Tesla Robotaxi app and hail a self-driving Tesla. These will be mostly Model 3 and Model Y vehicles initially, but there will be Cybercabs and Cybervans in coming months as production of those models ramps up.

Now, aside from the “two weeks” reference and the long delays getting actual robotaxi service rolling in Austin, Texas (without a human safety driver onboard) — both of which are as real as Swiss cheese — note the date of this article. Perhaps it will be longer than two weeks yet again….
