CONCOR CMD congratulates Vivek Kumar Gupta on his appointment as member (Infrastructure), Railway Board
NEW DELHI : Shri Sanjay Swarup, Chairman & Managing Director of Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR), along with the Board of Directors and senior leadership team, met Shri Vivek Kumar Gupta, newly appointed Member (Infrastructure) of the Railway Board and extended warm felicitations on his recent elevation to this prestigious position.
Shri Vivek Kumar Gupta, a senior officer of the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE), 1988 batch, was appointed Member (Infrastructure) of the Railway Board by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). Prior to this appointment, he was serving as General Manager, Western Railway — one of the busiest and most strategically important zones of Indian Railways.
In his new role on the Railway Board, Shri Gupta will be responsible for steering major infrastructure initiatives across the Indian Railways network, including expansion of railway lines, modernization of assets, station redevelopment, track doubling, bridge works, and other critical capital projects that underpin the nation’s freight and passenger mobility frameworks.
Shri Gupta brings to his new assignment a rich and varied portfolio of experience in railway operations and infrastructure development. His distinguished career includes leadership roles such as:
General Manager, Western Railway — overseeing operations of a key zonal railway. Additional Charge as General Manager, Central Railway — following the untimely demise of the incumbent GM, reflecting the confidence reposed in his leadership.
Managing Director, National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) — where he played an instrumental role in driving implementation of India’s first Bullet Train project.
Principal Executive Director (Gati Shakti), Railway Board — leading integrated planning across multiple directorates including civil, electrical, tracks, signaling, traffic, finance and planning, under the PM Gati Shakti initiative for multi-modal infrastructure coordination.
During the felicitation, Shri Sanjay Swarup lauded Shri Gupta’s dedicated service and deep expertise in railway infrastructure — qualities that are expected to further strengthen Indian Railways’ capability to deliver on its modernization and expansion goals. Shri Swarup also highlighted the importance of synergy between Indian Railways and CONCOR in advancing logistics connectivity and nation-wide freight operations.
The meeting underscored CONCOR’s commitment to supporting national transportation and infrastructure priorities while reinforcing collaborative engagement with the Railway Board under Shri Gupta’s stewardship.
