Ford Mustang Mach-E & F-150 Lightning US Sales Don’t Actually Collapse

We have been expecting a big drop in US electric vehicle sales in the 4th quarter following the end of the US EV tax credit. We’ve already seen Hyundai and Kia EV sales drop off a cliff in October. It’s hard to know yet, though, if that’s a real issue or not — it depends on whether it’s a short-term drop because of the pulling forward of sales or the companies will take a long time to get back up to those September levels.

But, wait, this story is about Ford, right?

Well, I started with Hyundai and Kia because Ford really stands out for not having its EV sales drop so dramatically. Yes, sales dropped, and they are a solid step down from October 2024 figures, not to mention September 2025. However, they didn’t crater. Here’s how Ford’s electric models did:

• Ford Mustang Mach-E — 2,906 sales, down from 3,313 in October 2024 and 7,643 in September 2025
• Ford F-150 Lightning — 1,543 sales, down from 1,863 in October 2024 and 3,957 in September 2025
• Ford E-Transit — 260 sales, down from 1,088 in October 2024 and 112 in September 2025

Yes, the E-Transit took a big hit year over year (while inventories must have been depleted in September), but the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning held up quite well! They were not that far off of October 2024 levels. You could really see these models recovering well in coming months.

Unfortunately, Ford has said that it was decreasing EV production capacity due to dropping demand. So … that’s not good. However, perhaps the company will look at these October figures with some optimism and work to get sales back up to much higher levels again before too long.
