GAIL Pipeline Damage Disrupts CNG Supply in Mumbai, Thane & Navi Mumbai; MGL Issues Advisory – Indian PSU

0 18

Gas supply across large parts of Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai has been impacted after damage to the main gas pipeline of GAIL (India) Limited inside the RCF compound, affecting the flow of gas to Mahanagar Gas Limited’s (MGL) City Gate Station (CGS) at Wadala.

Domestic PNG Supply to Remain Uninterrupted

MGL has assured that domestic Piped Natural Gas (PNG) consumers will continue to receive gas without any interruption. Domestic households have been placed on the highest priority, ensuring essential supply remains stable despite the disruption.

CNG Stations Likely to Shut Across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region

Due to the stoppage of gas supply at CGS Wadala, several CNG stations in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai — including those dedicated to public transport undertakings — may remain non-operational temporarily. Taxis, autos, BEST buses and other public transport fleets may face an impact until supply stabilizes.

Industrial & Commercial Customers Advised to Switch to Alternate Fuel

Industrial and commercial units operating in affected areas have been advised by MGL to switch to alternate fuel sources to avoid operational disruption. The advisory remains in force until supply is restored through the damaged GAIL pipeline.

Restoration Work in Progress

MGL stated that gas supplies will normalize once the damage is rectified and supply to CGS Wadala is restored. Repair efforts are currently underway, and updates will be shared as the situation develops.

Public Notice and Apology

MGL expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to consumers and assured continuous monitoring and coordination with GAIL to restore supply at the earliest.
