POWERGRID Wins Ninth TBCB Transmission Project in FY27, Worth ₹430.67 Crore – Indian PSU
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has emerged as the successful bidder for an Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) project under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process, quoting annual transmission charges of ₹430.67 crore.
The project, titled “Common Transmission System for evacuation of power from Lakadia (Phase-II: 7.5GW), Jam Khambhaliya (Phase-II: 5.5GW) and Jamnagar (Phase-I: 1GW) – Part-C,” will be developed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.
POWERGRID received the Letter of Intent (LoI) on September 25, 2026. The company disclosed the award to the National Stock Exchange of India and BSE on September 26, 2026, under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
New 765/400/220 kV Substation
The project includes establishment of a new 765/400/220 kV Alephata Substation in Maharashtra, along with associated 765 kV and 400 kV transmission lines. The scope will also cover associated transmission equipment and bays.
The transmission system is intended to facilitate evacuation of power from renewable energy development zones in Gujarat, including Lakadia, Jam Khambhaliya and Jamnagar, and support its integration with the national transmission grid.
Nine TBCB Projects in FY27
The latest award takes POWERGRID’s tally to nine transmission system projects secured through the TBCB route during FY 2026-27 so far.
According to the company’s disclosure, these nine projects represent cumulative annual transmission charges of ₹7,664.08 crore, with the latest project accounting for ₹430.67 crore.
The award comes amid continued expansion of India’s transmission network to integrate large-scale renewable generation and strengthen inter-state power transfer capacity.
Under the BOOT model, POWERGRID will develop, own and operate the transmission assets in accordance with the applicable project framework before their eventual transfer.
