Union Bank of India Celebrates 107th Foundation Day with Grand Event in Mumbai – Indian PSU

Union Bank of India celebrated its 107th Foundation Day on November 11, 2025, at the Jio World Convention Centre, BKC, Mumbai, commemorating over a century of trust, innovation, and excellence in Indian banking.

The celebration was graced by M. Nagaraju, IAS, Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, Government of India, as the Chief Guest, in the presence of Asheesh Pandey, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Executive Directors — Nitesh Ranjan, Ramasubramanian S., and Sanjay Rudra, Chief Vigilance Officer Ajay Kumar Singh, along with Directors, senior officials, employees, and esteemed customers.

In his address, M. Nagaraju said, “Founded in 1919, Union Bank has grown into one of India’s most respected financial institutions, touching millions of lives and supporting the nation’s economic growth. Since the amalgamation, the Bank has demonstrated remarkable progress and operational synergy. As it enters a new phase of growth, Union Bank’s focus on digital empowerment, customer-centric innovation, and sustainable banking will strengthen its role as a trusted partner in nation building.”

Speaking on the occasion, Asheesh Pandey, MD & CEO, highlighted that the Foundation Day represents a celebration of legacy, resilience, and dedicated service to the nation as a Public Sector Bank. He shared that over 9,000 people attended the Mumbai event physically, while over 50,000 staff members and customers joined virtually from 140 Regional Offices and 22 Zonal Offices across India. As of September 30, 2025, the Bank’s global business stood at ₹22.10 lakh crore, serving 16 crore customers.

As part of the celebrations, Union Bank launched ‘Union eBiz’, a Business Mobile Banking App designed for MSMEs and business customers, offering 20+ journeys and 300+ features including access rights management, collection journeys, bulk payments, and settlements. Additionally, the ‘Union Ease’ retail app logo was unveiled and will be available soon. The Chief Guest also virtually inaugurated 51 new branches and offices across key regions to enhance the Bank’s outreach and accessibility. Demonstrating its spirit of service, the employees of Union Bank of India contributed ₹21.68 crore towards the National Defence Fund, supporting the nation’s brave security personnel.

Nitesh Ranjan, Executive Director, proposed the vote of thanks, and the evening concluded with a cultural programme celebrating the Bank’s rich legacy.
