UrbanV and Alatau Advance Air Group have announced a new international collaboration to design Kazakhstan’s first vertiport network, marking a significant step in the country’s Advanced Air Mobility ambitions. The partnership will initially focus on the emerging Smart City of Alatau and the wider Almaty metropolitan area, supporting Kazakhstan’s goal of becoming a regional hub for next generation mobility in Central Asia.

Alatau Advance Air Group, which is dedicated to introducing Advanced Air Mobility solutions in Kazakhstan, has recently reinforced its commitment to this sector by signing a Letter of Intent with Joby Aviation, a global pioneer in electric vertical take-off and landing technology. This agreement underlines the country’s growing interest in deploying innovative and sustainable air transport solutions.

Under the new partnership, UrbanV and AAAG will work together on the design of a comprehensive vertiport network. This will include analysing network demand, profiling potential routes, and assessing suitable locations across Alatau and Almaty. The collaboration will also involve an initial evaluation of airspace considerations, operational models, and technological requirements needed to support eVTOL operations.

The first concrete project will be the design of a dedicated Test Centre in Alatau City. This facility will act as foundational infrastructure, enabling early testing activities and demonstration flights using eVTOL aircraft. The Test Centre is intended to play a key role in validating technologies and operational concepts before wider deployment.

UrbanV’s involvement represents its entry into the Central Asian market, expanding its international footprint in vertiport planning, design, and operations. The collaboration will also cover stakeholder engagement and regulatory support, contributing to the development of a national framework for Advanced Air Mobility and enabling future AAM services across the region.

Ivan Bassato, Chairman of UrbanV, said: “We are delighted to work with AAAG on a project that contributes to building a safer, more connected, and more sustainable form of mobility. Kazakhstan is investing with ambition and vision in the future of AAM, and UrbanV is ready to bring its international experience to support this important transformation.”

As part of this initiative, UrbanV will also collaborate with Korea Airports Corporation, activating a key commitment under a previously signed memorandum of understanding to support overseas vertiport development and the coordinated growth of emerging AAM ecosystems.
