Waymo is hitting so many milestones these days that it’s not even highlighting some of them. It keeps entering city after city, scaling up different stages of testing and commercial rides there, and then becoming many residents’ favorite mode of transport in those places.

The news today is that Waymo has begun fully driverless testing in Nashville, Tennessee. This is after initially announcing in September 2025 that it would be offering service in the city, and the subsequent stages of testing, correcting, testing, adjusting, etc.

Waymo isn’t yet offering commercial robotaxi service for the public in Nashville, but it will be doing so this year.

Waymo, as previously announced, will be cooperating with Lyft in Nashville. This is the first city where they will be launching service together, following Waymo partnering with Uber in a couple of other cities.

This follows the company raising $16 billion more to expand and scale up faster, and also announcing in the past week that it would be entering Boston and Sacramento this year.
