NTPC Limited Director (Operations) Ravindra Kumar inaugurated the Heads of Ash Management Meet 2026 at NTPC Bongaigaon, marking the beginning of a two-day Ash Utilization (AU) Meet focused on advancing sustainable and technology-driven ash management practices.

Hosted at NTPC Bongaigaon from May 21, 2026, the meet revolves around the theme “Driving Sustainable Ash Utilization with Digital Transformation.” The event serves as a collaborative platform for deliberations on digital initiatives, infrastructure strengthening, and innovative approaches to ash management across NTPC stations.

Addressing the inaugural session, Ravindra Kumar emphasised the strategic importance of repositioning ash as a valuable resource with significant revenue potential. In his keynote address, he highlighted the critical role of digital integration in improving efficiency and transparency in ash management systems.

He urged all NTPC stations to actively leverage the AsTraM portal for better tracking, transportation monitoring, and billing processes. Stressing logistics optimisation, he also called for enhanced utilisation of the Rail-Cum-Road (RCR) mode to strengthen long-distance ash transportation.

Further, he underscored the need to expedite the development of Dry Ash Evacuation System (DAES) facilities and maintain a strong focus on safety standards at ash dykes, ensuring both operational efficiency and environmental compliance.

The inaugural session witnessed the presence of senior NTPC officials including Vijay Chand (RED–ER II), R.B. Mallik (ED, Ash Management–NI), Chandramouli Kasina (ED–SSEA), Arnab Maitra (HoP, Bongaigaon), G. Raja Shekar (GM, Corporate Vigilance), Anurag Gupta (GM, O&M Bongaigaon), and Subhash Gokhale (GM, AMCC).

The meet is being attended by Heads of Ash Utilization Departments (AUDs) from NTPC stations, members of Corporate OS and Ash Management teams, regional representatives, and delegates from the USSC Group.

The two-day programme features presentations by AMCC, Corporate Vigilance, NTPC stations (region-wise), and the USSC Group, along with sessions on new initiatives in ash utilisation.
