CMD NHPC Holds Talks with Odisha Government on Masinta Pumped Storage Project – Indian PSU

NHPC Chairman and Managing Director Bhupender Gupta held a meeting with Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo in New Delhi on November 4, 2026, to discuss the development of the Masinta Pumped Storage Project (PSP) and other renewable energy projects in the state.

Gupta was accompanied by Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects), NHPC. The discussions focused on expediting the development of the Masinta Pumped Storage Project, along with exploring opportunities for developing additional hydropower and floating solar projects in Odisha.

The Odisha Government assured NHPC of full support and necessary cooperation in facilitating the development of these projects. The assurance is expected to strengthen coordination between NHPC and the state government and help advance Odisha’s hydropower and renewable energy potential.

Vishal Kumar Dev, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (Electronics & IT and Energy), Government of Odisha, and Amiya Kumar Mohanty, Director (Operations), OHPC Ltd., also attended the meeting.

The discussions underline NHPC’s efforts to expand its presence in Odisha through pumped storage, hydropower and floating solar projects, supporting the state’s clean energy ambitions and strengthening its renewable energy infrastructure.
