The carrier will offer over 9,900 seats on the route each month.

The route will be the only nonstop link to Mexico City International Airport
(MEX) when it launches on June 5th, 2025. It looks to cater to business travelers and the more than 187,000 people of Mexican ancestry in the Philadelphia region. In a statement confirming the announcement, Philidelphia International Airport CEO Atif Saeed noted how excited area passengers are to have a direct connection to Mexico City:

“This is exciting news for the Philadelphia region and continues to expand our global connectivity. In addition to connecting Philadelphia’s business, family and leisure travelers to the second largest city in the Western Hemisphere, it also unites us with another top destination for culture, history and cuisine.

“Prior to this announcement, anyone needing to travel to Mexico City had to start their journey at another airport or have a layover along the way.  Thanks to Aeroméxico, our guests can fly non-stop from their home airport – PHL.”

The route will be served by Aeromexico, which was recently named the most punctual airline in the world, using one of its Boeing 737 MAX 8
aircraft, which seats 16 passengers in business class and 144 in economy. According to flight scheduling data from Cirium, the flights will operate at the following times:

In addition to the new Mexico City route, Pennsylvania travelers have several options to reach the Mexican resort of Cancun International Airport
(CAN). American Airlines, Spirit Airlines, and Frontier Airlines all fly to Cancun from Philadelphia, supplemented by a weekly American Airlines flight from Pittsburgh International Airport
(PIT).

A growing partnership with Delta Air Lines

The announcement follows a flurry of new routes for the Joint Cooperation Agreement (JCA) with Delta Air Lines
. Over the past year, the two airlines have significantly increased the number of routes, linking 13 Mexican airports to 26 US airports with over 100 daily flights. This year, the JCA will be 27% larger than in 2022, with an additional 18 daily departures, for a total of over 1.1 million departing seats in 2025

This past summer, Aeromexico began flying from Mexico to cities such as Tampa, Raleigh-Durham, and Washington, DC. The airline also added a batch of winter seasonal destinations to various points in the US and will begin service to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport
(PHX) later this spring.
