Aether Fuels, a sustainable fuels technology company, has announced new leadership appointments and $15 million in additional funding to accelerate Project Beacon and advance commercialisation of its Aether Aurora sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in Singapore. The company is developing its first commercial-scale SAF facility at Aster’s fully integrated refining and chemical hub on Pulau Bukom.

Stu Stott has been appointed Global Vice President of Projects and will be based in Singapore through Project Beacon. Stott brings extensive experience in delivering complex energy infrastructure, including LNG terminals, power projects, and sustainable fertilizer facilities across Asia and the U.S. At Aether, he will lead the development of commercial-scale sustainable fuels production facilities and oversee the project lifecycle from conceptual engineering through final investment decision (FID).

Mei Chia, with Aether since 2023, will lead a new Singapore R&D Centre planned for 2026. Previously Deputy Director at the Science and Engineering Research Council and Scientist at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Mei holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She will strengthen integration between R&D, demonstration, and commercial deployment.

TC Goh, leading regional business development since January 2025, brings over 20 years of experience across energy and infrastructure sectors. He will drive partnerships, project development, and market expansion across Southeast Asia.

Project Beacon is Aether’s flagship commercial-scale SAF facility in Singapore, converting industrial waste gas and biomethane into CORSIA-certified SAF with anticipated greenhouse gas reductions exceeding 70%. The 50-barrel-per-day facility is under engineering development, with construction expected in 2026 and commercial operations by 2028.

The $15 million funding round includes new investors Aster Ventures and Singapore’s Economic Development Board Investments (EDBI), alongside existing investors AP Ventures, Xora Innovation, CDP Venture Capital, TechEnergy Ventures, Foothill Ventures, Eni Next, and Chevron Technology Ventures. This brings Aether’s total funding to over $60 million and will accelerate Project Beacon execution.

Founder and CEO Conor Madigan said: “Aether is closing the year with strong momentum across leadership, technology, and project execution. Bringing leaders like Stu onto the team positions us exceptionally well as we move from demonstration to deployment.”
