Altitude Partners With Empacar Bolivia & Becomes First Commercial Buyer To Reach +1 Million T CDRs Financed

Altitude has signed an agreement with Empacar S.A. to purchase more than 305,000 tonnes of biochar-based carbon removal credits (CORCs) from facilities in Bolivia. The deal adds to the growing number of large-scale CDR offtakes in the Altitude portfolio. The biochar plant by Empacar in Bolivia is supported by global biochar consultancy Bioflux, with the credits being issued under the Puro methodology.

These CDR Projects are linked to local industrial activity and supply chains. In Bolivia, the development of carbon removal facilities will create additional economic activity around feedstock sourcing, plant operations, and logistics. At the same time, participation in international carbon markets introduces new revenue streams for regional operators, which supports further infrastructure investment.

With this purchase, Altitude becomes the world’s first commercial CDR buyer to reach +1 million tonnes of CDRs financed, and has already signaled it will grow beyond +1.5 million t CDRs soon.

The partnership underscores growing momentum for biochar as a scalable and verifiable carbon removal solution with both climate and community impact, and builds on Altitude financing +360.000t CDRs in Southeast Asia.
