BCCL CMD Reviews Production, Dispatch and Monsoon Preparedness in East Jharia Area – Indian PSU
Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) Manoj Kumar Agrawal conducted an extensive review of coal production, dispatch operations, pre-monsoon preparedness and other critical mining activities during his visit to the East Jharia (EJ) Area on Tuesday.
The CMD was accompanied by U.S. Shukla, Technical Secretary to CMD, while General Manager (EJ) T. Paswan, senior area officials and contractors were present during the inspection.
The visit commenced at the C-2 Higher Patch of Amalgamated Bhaura North-South mine, where Agrawal reviewed mining operations, drainage arrangements, coal quality and production-related activities. In view of the approaching monsoon season, he directed officials to immediately enhance pumping capacity and ensure uninterrupted power supply to prevent disruptions in mining operations.
Emphasizing operational continuity and safety, the CMD instructed officials to maximize pumping efficiency, effectively manage waterlogging risks and maintain strict adherence to safety standards. He also stressed the importance of dispatching only quality coal to consumers.
During his inspection of the Eastward Extended Fire Patch at ASP Colliery, Agrawal reviewed ongoing operations in the presence of contractor Gurpal Singh and area officials. He directed the team to maintain the highest safety standards while increasing production beyond current levels. He further instructed officials to complete all pre-monsoon preparations on priority and ensure adequate pumping arrangements to safeguard production during the rainy season.
The CMD also reviewed haul road conditions and directed that road gradients be maintained as per prescribed standards. He called for enhanced coal dispatch and adequate deployment of transportation contractors to support increased movement of coal.
At Sudamdih Siding, Agrawal inspected coal loading operations and directed officials to establish robust transportation arrangements with a target of achieving a loading capacity of 2.5 rakes per day. He also reviewed progress on the railway’s additional line project and instructed concerned officials to expedite its completion to further augment dispatch capacity.
The CMD subsequently visited the proposed Amalabad Underground Mine, which is planned to be operated through the Mine Developer and Operator (MDO) route under a revenue-sharing model. He directed that all project-related activities be completed within stipulated timelines and stressed the need to fast-track statutory and administrative approvals, including environmental clearance, to facilitate timely implementation of the project.
Concluding the visit, Agrawal chaired a review meeting at the regional office, where discussions focused on production, dispatch, monsoon preparedness, project progress and operational challenges. He reiterated that safety remains the foundation of all mining activities and emphasized the need to achieve production and dispatch targets through teamwork, accountability and coordinated efforts.
He urged officials and employees to work with dedication and commitment while maintaining an optimal balance between safety, production, quality and operational efficiency to successfully achieve the company’s targets for the current financial year.
The CMD has been undertaking regular visits to various BCCL operational areas to closely monitor production, dispatch, coal quality, safety standards and project implementation. These inspections are aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, optimizing resource utilization, strengthening quality control and promoting safe and sustainable mining practices across the company.
