The 55th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) was held today at Koyla Bhawan, Dhanbad. The meeting was chaired by Manoj Kumar Agarwal, Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD), BCCL.
Sanoj Kumar Jha, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal, and Mukesh Kumar Chaudhary, Director (Marketing), Coal India Limited, participated in the meeting through virtual mode. Murli Krishna Ramaiah, Director (HR); Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Technical/Operations); Rajesh Kumar, Director (Finance); Rajeev Kumar Sinha, Director (Technical/Projects & Planning); Debanuj Debnath, Company Secretary; the Statutory Auditor Madan Mohan Prasad (M/s NAG & Associates); General Managers and Heads of Departments at Headquarters, Area General Managers, and other senior officials were present on the occasion. Shareholders of the Company attended the meeting virtually.
The AGM marked an important milestone as it was the company’s first Annual General Meeting following its successful listing on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) in January 2026. The meeting included discussions on the Company’s financial statements for FY 2025-26, operational achievements, financial performance, long-term growth plans and strategic priorities.
Addressing the shareholders, CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal stated that despite global economic challenges and difficult operating conditions, BCCL remained steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the nation’s energy security and meeting the requirements of the steel sector. Presenting an overview of the Company’s operational and financial performance during FY 2025-26, he noted that production and profitability were impacted by operational and geological challenges. However, the Company continued to advance several key strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening its long-term growth trajectory.
He further highlighted that BCCL is continuously working towards wider adoption of advanced mining technologies such as Longwall, Highwall Mining and Continuous Miner technologies, reopening underground mines, modernising coal washeries, developing railway infrastructure, accelerating digital transformation, strengthening AI-enabled surveillance systems, improving energy efficiency, promoting renewable energy, enhancing environmental sustainability and further reinforcing safety standards across its operations.
The CMD emphasised that BCCL’s key priorities remain safe and scientific mining, transparent corporate governance, optimum utilisation of resources, technological innovation and sustainable long-term value creation for shareholders. Referring to the Company’s Initial Public Offering (IPO) and subsequent listing on the stock exchanges as a historic milestone in BCCL’s journey, he reaffirmed that, as a listed public sector enterprise, the Company is fully committed to the highest standards of transparency, accountability and safeguarding investors’ interests. He also highlighted BCCL’s continued focus on corporate social responsibility, environmental sustainability, employee welfare and its significant contribution to nation-building.
During the meeting, shareholders and investors raised several queries and offered suggestions on a wide range of subjects, including the Company’s first-quarter financial performance, decline in profitability, production and revenue trends, IPO price discovery, dividend policy, debt-equity ratio, secured borrowings, outstanding dues, production enhancement strategy, adoption of modern mining technologies, safety initiatives, environmental management, strengthening investor relations, establishment of a dedicated investor helpline, availability of hard copies of the Annual Report, future business prospects, CSR initiatives and other related matters.
Responding to the queries, the CMD clarified that the Company is actively addressing the prevailing challenges through sustained efforts aimed at enhancing production capacity, improving cost efficiency, adopting advanced technologies, achieving operational excellence, strengthening safety practices, fulfilling environmental commitments and further improving engagement with investors. He expressed confidence that the strategic initiatives and infrastructure development projects currently underway would significantly strengthen BCCL’s operational and financial performance in the coming years.
In his concluding remarks, Manoj Kumar Agarwal expressed his sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Coal, Coal India Limited, the Board of Directors, shareholders, customers, financial institutions, auditors and all stakeholders for their continued guidance, trust and support. He expressed confidence that, with the adoption of modern technologies, transparent governance, safe and sustainable mining practices and the collective efforts of its workforce, BCCL would continue to play a vital role in strengthening India’s energy security and industrial development while creating sustained long-term value for all stakeholders.
The Annual General Meeting was conducted through the virtual platform facilitated by NSDL’s technical partner, VC NOW. The proceedings concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Debanuj Debnath, Company Secretary.
