Breeze Airways will soon open a new crew base at the Akron-Canton Airport (CAK). The low-cost carrier has several bases across the United States as it continues to expand its footprint by offering more routes. Over the next few years, several of the company’s employees, including cockpit crew and flight attendants will move to the new base for future growth.
New base
has announced that it will have a new crew base at the Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) starting this summer. This will be the carrier’s 11th base and will result in the addition of more than 61 pilot, flight attendant, and maintenance jobs to the community over the next three years. David Neeleman, Breeze Airways’ founder and CEO, commented,

Breeze has had a presence at Akron-Canton Airport for four years, and JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef is excited about the creation of new jobs at CAK as well as giving more options to local people for business and leisure opportunities with more connections.
The airline has been gradually increasing the number of its bases throughout the country. Last year, it
added Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) to the list
, which also includes operating bases in Charleston, Hartford, New Orleans, and Orlando, among others.
Network out of Akron-Canton Airport
Breeze Airways established a round-trip service at Akron-Canton Airport around four years ago, in June 2021, and has expanded its presence there since then. Today, it offers 10 non-stop and four one-stop, no-change-of-plane BreezeThru flights to popular seasonal and year-round destinations, including Charleston, South Carolina; Las Vegas, Nevada; Orlando, Florida; Los Angeles, California; and Raleigh, North Carolina.

68 airports in Breeze’s network
Breeze has been strategically developing its network after examining demand and competition on several potential routes. Earlier this month, the budget carrier announced that it will offer service in three new cities – Rochester, New York; Albany, New York; and Memphis, Tennessee – beginning this spring.
It also said that it will add 19 new routes – 13 nonstops and six one-stop/no plane change BreezeThru routes – across its nationwide network. As always, the carrier announced lucrative promotional fares for these routes.
These developments came on the heels of significant growth in 2024. Neeleman said that the airline sees great demand and opportunity for its premium product offering in secondary markets across the country, resulting in the addition of Rochester, Albany, and Memphis.

Breeze has had an impressive growth in the last four years. It currently has more than 45 aircraft in its fleet, including Airbus A220s and Embraer E190s and E195s, and with all the latest additions, the carrier
now has 68 airports in its network
.
In January, the carrier announced its first full quarter of operating profit in the fourth quarter of 2024. It made more than $200 million in revenue and achieved an operating margin of more than 4% in the fourth quarter. The total revenue for the year 2024 crossed $680 million, an increase of more than 78% over 2023.
Lukas Johnson, chief commercial officer at Breeze Airways, said the airline leveraged the A220’s unique size and efficiency to offer direct service between underserved cities, which resulted in good numbers in 2024.
