The third-party logistics (3PL) industry trade group Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) has launched a certification program designed to equip rising freight brokerage managers with the leadership skills and business acumen needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving supply chain landscape.

The “Freight Leadership Lab” will debut in April 2026 at TIA’s Capital Ideas Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, before continuing with virtual and in-person modules throughout the year.

Through six interactive modules, participants will learn strategies tailored to the freight brokerage industry, including: team leadership, financial management, problem solving, ethical culture building, persuasive communication, and coaching for high performance.

The program features instruction from experienced industry experts, including Eileen Dabrowski (Apex Tide Consulting), Alex Fritz (CFO, NT Logistics), Daniel Ilg (President, Ilg Logistics), Mike Riccio (More Than Miles Consulting), David Abell (President, A.M. Transport Services), Georgette Hunter-Franklin (Director of Learning & Development, MODE Global), and instructor, Jim Kenny, PhD.

“Leadership is not just about managing freight. It’s about building teams, making smart decisions, and setting a vision that drives results,” Chris Burroughs, president & CEO of TIA, said in a release. “The Freight Leadership Lab is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for mid-level managers to grow into the leaders our industry needs for the future.”
