Chardham Yatra – All Arrangements Should Be Completed Before Start Of Yatra : Uttarakhand CM Dhami – Indian PSU
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while holding a meeting regarding the preparations for the upcoming Chardham Yatra in the Secretariat, directed the officials to ensure all necessary arrangements on the yatra routes before the commencement of the Chardham Yatra. Secretaries of all the departments related to Chardham Yatra should do on-site inspection of the yatra routes and ensure that all the arrangements are completed on time. He instructed the Chief Secretary that a weekly review meeting should be held regarding all the preparations for the Chardham Yatra. To improve traffic management and law and order during the Chardham Yatra, the Chief Minister has also given instructions to the DGP to conduct on-site inspection before the Chardham Yatra. Private healthcare testing kits will be arranged at various places on the Chardham Yatra route for elderly devotees.
Better arrangements should be made for plastic and garbage management on the Chardham Yatra routes
The Chief Minister said that Chardham Yatra of Uttarakhand is a major center of faith for the devotees of the country and the world. It should be ensured that the good message of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand reaches the country and the world. The Chief Minister directed that special care should be taken of cleanliness on the travel routes. For plastic and garbage management, funds should be made available by the Pollution Control Board to the District Magistrates of the districts associated with Chardham Yatra.
Verification of horse and mule drivers will be done
Verification of horse and mule drivers should be done for Chardham Yatra. And everyone’s police and criminal records should be checked. It should be ensured that all the horses and mules used for Chardham Yatra are registered only after health check-up. Adequate arrangements of hot water should be made for horses and mules.
All devotees coming on Chardham Yatra should be treated with decency
The Chief Minister also instructed the officials in the meeting that proper arrangements for electricity, drinking water and roads should be ensured on the Chardham Yatra routes. Toilets built at various places on the travel routes should be repaired and separate toilets should be provided for women. All the officers and employees associated with Chardham Yatra should show decency and tolerance, it should be ensured that there is no indecency with the devotees. Security personnel deployed on travel duty should remain on alert mode. It should be ensured that the security personnel are given rest after every six hours. Proper arrangements should be made for accommodation and sleeping for the drivers coming for the yatra. Efforts should also be made that the vehicles going for Chardham Yatra should have two drivers each. Special care should be taken of the fitness of the vehicles.
In view of the Chardham Yatra, the information system should be strengthened so that the devotees can get the necessary information on time.
The Chief Minister directed the officials that all departments should be on alert mode for efficient management of Chardham Yatra. Social media should be used better so that the devotees get timely information related to weather, traffic management and other arrangements. It should be ensured that directories related to Chardham Yatra are made available in different languages in hotels, guest houses and home stays. In this directory, along with Chardham, information about other tourist places should also be given in detail.
The doors of Shri Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham will open on 10 May 2024 while the doors of Shri Badrinath Dham will open on 12 May 2024. Till now, more than 15 lakh devotees have registered online for Chardham Yatra.
Officials should remain on alert mode for effective control of forest fire – Chief Minister
The Chief Minister said that along with the Chardham Yatra, stopping forest fires is an important issue in the state at this time. He said that apart from the Forest Department, other departments should also be on alert mode to prevent forest fire. Information system should be further strengthened to prevent forest fire incidents. Quick response time should be minimized. For effective prevention of forest fire, cooperation of people should be taken at the local level.

Sudhanshu, DGP Shri Abhinav Kumar, Secretary Shri R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Mr. Shailesh Bagoli, Mr. Sachin Kurve, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Mr. Arvind Singh Hyanki, Dr. Ranjit Sinha, Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, Special Secretary Dr. Parag Madhukar Dhakate, Director General of Information Shri Banshidhar Tiwari and senior officers of the departments related to Chardham Yatra and district level officers related to the virtual medium were present.
