Condor Airlines Launches Year-Round Frankfurt-Miami International Airport Flights

Condor Airlines has announced that it will be launching flights between Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and Miami International Airport (MIA). The services will be operated three times per week, with the route being online year-round.

18th North American city from Frankfurt

Condor detailed that along with MIA, the airline will operate flights to 18 North American cities from FRA, including 12 cities in the US and six in Canada. The airline noted that flight times are optimized to enable onward connections from the German airport.

Nevertheless, speaking about the new route, Peter Gerber, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Condor, highlighted that it was a great pleasure to introduce the airline’s Airbus A330-900 on the route between FRA and MIA, which are separated by 4,200 nautical miles (7,778 kilometers).

“The demand for our new non-stop out of MIA into the heart of Europe has been so strong that we are pleased to extend what was originally to be a seasonal route into a year-round operation. This provides both European bound American travelers as well as German vacationers coming to South Florida with an affordable and convenient year-round flight that will also have a positive impact on the local Miami economy.”

Using A330neo on the route

The German leisure airline will deploy its Airbus A330-900 on the route, with Condor highlighting that the widebody aircraft consumes half a gallon of fuel per passenger per 62 miles (99.7 kilometers) flown, which is far below the industry’s average.

Its A330-900 aircraft accommodates 310 passengers with four Prime Seats (an upgraded business class product), 26 business class, 64 premium economy, and 216 economy class seats. Speaking about its business class product, Condor highlighted that its lie-flat seats are configured in a 1-2-1 layout, offering direct aisle access for all passengers.

The seat converts into a bed with a length of 78 inches (1.9 meters) and a width of 19” (48.2 centimeters). The in-flight entertainment offers the latest movies, TV series, podcasts, and games, accessible through the 17” 4K screen that can be controlled via touch or a remote control.

Meanwhile, the four Prime Seats can accommodate up to two passengers if they wish to dine together, with a larger 24” IFE screen. Furthermore, passengers flying in this class receive a premium travel kit, in-flight pajamas, and a premium snack basket.

Overall, flying business class on Condor’s Airbus A330neo was an incredible experience. It is my favorite business class product thus far.

Competing with Lufthansa’s Boeing 747-8

Looking at the flight schedule data provided by the aviation analytics company Cirium, apart from Condor, Lufthansa is the only airline flying between FRA and MIA. The German airline, which utilizes FRA as one of its German hubs, has scheduled seven weekly one-way flights between the two airports, utilizing a Boeing 747-8 in July 2024.

As such, while Condor’s three-weekly flight converts into 930 weekly seats, Lufthansa offers 2,548 weekly one-way seats on the route. However, Lufthansa does not fly between its other hub, Munich Airport (MUC), to MIA, resulting in FRA being the only German gateway to the Floridan city.
