What exactly happened?
According to a witness aboard this flight, Ashwin Menon, there was a small fire below the cockpit near the nose of the aircraft, and the video he captured showed the charred area. He reportedly told Komonews
I think people responded to that with panic; there was a little bit of jostling in the aisles to get to the exit,” Menon said. “But overall, it was a pretty smooth evacuation process.

Menon also said he noticed a few people had minor injuries, including a woman who said she twisted her ankle coming down the slide. Menon added that the fire burned yellow and was out within 30 seconds to a minute after he evacuated the plane.
According to the newspaper, a spokesperson for Seattle Tacoma Airport added that a short in an electric cord caused the fire and had since been repaired. The gate returned to normal operations.
