Fire Service Day Observed At Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited – Indian PSU

14th April is observed every year as “National Fire Service Day” to pay homage to the gallant Fire men who lost their lives in the Bombay Dock explosion on 14th April 1944 and in subsequent years.

CISF’s Fire Wing deployed at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant is observing Fire Service Week from 14th to 20th April 2024. During this Fire Service Week a number of awareness programs will be organised to educate the VSP employees, their wards, housewives, workers, School children and general public regarding fire safe practices. On this occasion, Shri Arun Kanti Bagchi, Director (Projects) & Additional Charge Director (Operations), RINL, CGMs and other HODs of VSP also attended the Program.

The observance of Fire Service week provides a unique opportunity to educate the worker in Public Sector Undertaking in particular and the public in general in the fire prevention and fire safety measures.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Shri Arun Kanti Bagchi, Director (Projects) & Additional Charge Director (Operations), RINL appreciated the role of CISF in security & Fire protection of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. He also highlighted about the future prospect of VSP as Centre of Excellence.

Addressing the gathering Shri Attar Mohammed Haneef, Senior Commandant , CISF-VSP Vizag highlighted the activities being covered during the week to educate Visakhapatnam Steel Plant workers, their spouses, school children on fire safety measures and apprised the gathering on the good work done by Fire Wing in the past one year at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant which saved assets worth in crores of Rupees.

Floral tributes were paid by the dignitaries to Martyrs and two minutes silence was observed in remembrance to the Fire personnel, who laid down their lives in line of their duty.

As part of the National Fire Service Day, the dignitaries released a Brochure on “ Ensure Fire Safety, Contribute towards Nation Building”. Shri Ch SRVGK Ganesh, Director (Finance), RINL, Shri Naveen Kumar, Deputy Commandant / Fire and other Officers & personnel of RINL and CISF attended the programme.
