GAIL (India) Limited, India’s leading integrated energy major, has signed contract agreements with TUSCO Limited for setting up a 600 MW solar power project at TUSCO’s Solar Park in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh.
The agreements were signed by Parivesh Chugh, Executive Director (SD & Renewables), GAIL, and Shri Anil Tyagi, CEO, TUSCO Ltd., in the presence of R K Singhal, Director (Business Development), GAIL, and senior officials from GAIL and THDC India Limited.
The project will be developed along with a 550 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), enhancing grid reliability and enabling efficient energy utilisation.
The solar power generated will primarily meet the captive energy requirements of GAIL’s Petrochemical Plant at Pata in Auraiya district, while also supporting rising demand from electrification of gas-based equipment and upcoming Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) plants in Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking on the occasion, R K Singhal stated that the initiative reflects GAIL’s strong commitment to low-carbon and sustainable energy solutions, while also reinforcing its expanding footprint in Uttar Pradesh.
