Gautam Budh Nagar MP Dr. Mahesh Sharma Visits World Gifts Expo 2026 as Indian Handicrafts & Handlooms Shine – Indian PSU
Indian handicrafts and handloom products took centre stage at the World Gifts Expo 2026, being held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, with the Handloom Handicraft Exporters Welfare Association (HHEWA) hailing the event as a significant platform for connecting India’s traditional industries with global markets.
The expo, spread across Halls 1 to 6 of Bharat Mandapam, has brought together nearly 750 exhibitors from across the country, including a large number of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from Uttar Pradesh and other states. Exhibitors are showcasing an extensive range of products, including corporate gifts, wedding and festive gifts, promotional merchandise, lifestyle products, handlooms, handicrafts, textiles and glassware.
A large number of domestic and international buyers are participating in the event, creating strong business opportunities for exhibitors and helping expand the global reach of Indian products.
Dr. Mahesh Sharma Interacts with Artisans
Former Union Minister and Gautam Buddha Nagar MP Mahesh Sharma visited the exhibition and toured various stalls. During his visit, he interacted with artisans, entrepreneurs and exporters, appreciating the quality, intricate craftsmanship and innovation reflected in Indian handicraft and handloom products.
Dr. Sharma also praised the enthusiastic participation of exhibitors and observed that such exhibitions play a crucial role in promoting Indian products internationally, boosting exports and strengthening the country’s traditional manufacturing ecosystem.
Boost for MSMEs and Export Sector
According to HHEWA, buyers from India and several overseas markets are placing business orders during the expo, making it a major commercial opportunity for artisans, exporters and MSME enterprises.
The association believes the exhibition will significantly contribute to increasing India’s exports while generating new business avenues for millions of artisans and small entrepreneurs engaged in the handicraft and handloom sector.
Strengthening ‘Vocal for Local’ and ODOP
HHEWA stated that the World Gifts Expo 2026 aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Vocal for Local”, “Make in India”, and the goal of building a globally competitive manufacturing ecosystem.
The association also highlighted that the event is giving fresh momentum to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s One District One Product (ODOP) initiative by providing national and international market access to the state’s traditional crafts and artisan communities.
Association President C. P. Sharma expressed confidence that the collective efforts of the government, exporters, industry stakeholders and artisans would help India’s handicraft and handloom sector achieve new milestones and contribute significantly towards the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047.”
