Gimme pepperoni, mushrooms, and … a safe delivery

The fast food chain Domino’s was once famous for a marketing campaign guaranteeing pizza delivery in 30 minutes or less.

Nowadays, the retailer is focused on a broader set of metrics, which include driver safety, operational efficiency, and profitability. To achieve those goals, the company has begun adopting AI (artificial intelligence)-powered fleet performance technology from California-based Netradyne.

The rollout began with Gulfport, Mississippi-based RPM Pizza, one of the nation’s largest Domino’s franchisees, which started installing Netradyne’s video safety and telematics platform in delivery vehicles in the last quarter of 2024. RPM Pizza has since deployed more than 600 of the dual-facing camera systems across 51 stores.

The move resulted in a 66% reduction in at-fault crashes in the first quarter following implementation, according to Netradyne. Risky driving behaviors, as measured by variables like driver distraction, severe speeding violations, severe stop sign violations, and average following distance, diminished as well, the company said.

Today, Domino’s has five independent franchise operators using the platform for more than 1,000 delivery vehicles nationwide.
