The airline’s current loyalty initiative, 6E Rewards, is less of a frequent flyer program and more of a rewards scheme where members can accrue 6E Rewards by using their co-branded card on IndiGo and other merchants and to be redeemed for 6E Rewards’ Benefits, which include IndiGo flights.

The new IndiGo BluChip program, which is open for pre-registration now, is the next evolution for the low-cost carrier as it looks to expand its presence and compete more directly with flag carrier Air India. The program is officially due to roll out next month. IndiGo is randomly selecting 50 applicants each day to receive 1,800 IndiGo BluChips and one grand prize winner, who will receive 18,000 IndiGo BluChips when the program launches. Neetan Chopra, Chief Digital and Information Officer at IndiGo, noted how the program will provide recognition for the carrier’s loyal flyers while offering a new way to earn free flights:

“IndiGo continues to be dynamic and evolve with the changing needs and wants of our customers. I am absolutely delighted with the launch of IndiGo BluChip, our hassle-free, innovative and customer centric loyalty program.

“I warmly welcome all our customers aboard our loyalty program, carefully designed to make your journeys with IndiGo even more rewarding.”

Members of the current 6E Rewards program will be automatically migrated to the BluChip when it launches next month.

How does the program work?

IndiGo customers who join the program will collect IndiGo BluChips on every IndiGo flight based on their spending. The airline offers a higher rate of return on flights booked directly via its website. The chips will not expire and can be used for redemptions on every IndiGo flight “up to the last seat available 365 days of the year.”
