Chandigarh-Dharamshala flight

IndiGo is ready to expand its presence in the North Indian hilly state of Himachal Pradesh by offering a non-stop flight to Dharamshala from Chandigarh. This flight will give passengers an alternative to flying between the two destinations, which are otherwise also well-connected by road. IndiGo will use one of its ATR 72 planes for this service.

Route map

The carrier will commence this service on April 2, three times a week, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, commented,

“We are pleased to announce the launch of direct flights between Chandigarh and Dharamshala, which will significantly reduce the travel time between the two cities with added convenience. These new flights would also offer customers from Dharamshala easy accessibility to key national and international destinations via Chandigarh.”

Flight schedule

Dharamshala is a popular destination and sees plenty of tourists in the summer season who wish to escape the rising temperatures in the northern plain. Chandigarh is the capital of Punjab and Haryana, and many people from the city head towards Himachal Pradesh, and Dharamshala in particular, so IndiGo can expect a steady demand for this service. Busy months ahead

IndiGo expects a busy summer season and has several new routes lined up in the coming weeks. The airline always makes adjustments to its schedule before every new season, and this time is no exception.

At the beginning of this month, IndiGo announced six new domestic routes for the summer season: Ahmedabad-Rajkot, Ahmedabad-Aurangabad, Bhopal-Lucknow, and Indore-Varanasi. It will also serve Kolkata-Srinagar and Kolkata-Jammu flights from April 10 and April 21, respectively, while flights between Kolkata-Jammu via Srinagar will begin from April 10.

The carrier will also offer non-stop flights thrice a week between Surat and Pune, as well as Chandigarh and Jammu, effective March 31 and April 2, respectively.

With the school vacation period fast approaching, IndiGo wants to cater to families looking to go on vacation at some of the popular spots in the country and even overseas. The airline has started or announced a bunch of international flights in recent months, including new services to Bangkok and Bali, as well as additional frequencies to the Middle East.
