The Danish shipping and logistics giant Maersk will open a $100 million fulfillment hub in Massachusetts in August, saying the 617,000-square-foot facility will support “a major e-commerce customer” and enhance Maersk’s ability to deliver faster, more reliable fulfillment services to consumers across the region.

Located in Hopedale, Massachusetts—a rural area between Worcester and Providence—the facility will begin operations in late August, serving as “a major addition” to Maersk’s North American Contract Logistics network, and supporting high-volume fulfillment operations.

The Hopedale facility will serve a single large-scale e-commerce customer and is expected to process up to 330,000 units per day at peak capacity. Equipped with advanced conveyor and sortation technology, the operation will support high-volume fulfillment and delivery across the Northeast region while helping ensure speed, reliability and scalability during periods of peak demand.

“Companies today are increasingly looking for logistics partners that can help them position inventory closer to customers and respond to demand with greater speed and flexibility,” Dave Hune, Head of Maersk Contract Logistics North America, said in a release. “Our investment in Hopedale reflects continued customer demand for modern fulfillment capabilities and reinforces Maersk’s commitment to building resilient, scalable supply chains across North America.”
