A high-level workshop focused on enhancing research and development (R&D) capabilities in India’s oil and gas sector was held today under the chairmanship of the Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG). The meeting witnessed participation from Chairpersons and Managing Directors (CMDs) of leading oil Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
The workshop centred on building a more collaborative, efficient, and future-ready R&D ecosystem to support India’s evolving energy needs.
Key Focus Areas:
- Minimising Duplication: Emphasis was laid on reducing overlapping R&D efforts across PSUs to optimise resource utilisation.
- Strategic Prioritisation: Identifying and aligning priority R&D themes for coordinated action across the sector.
- Shared Vision Development: Creating a unified roadmap for strengthening India’s oil and gas innovation ecosystem.
- Global Benchmarking: Studying international best practices and collaborative R&D models to enhance competitiveness.
The deliberations underscored a strong commitment from stakeholders towards innovation-driven growth, with a clear focus on strengthening India’s energy security and technological capabilities.
The initiative is expected to pave the way for deeper synergy among oil PSUs, enabling them to collectively address emerging challenges and accelerate the transition towards a more resilient and sustainable energy future.
