NTPC Limited has announced that its subsidiary, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), has successfully declared the Commercial Operation Date (COD) for an additional 50 MW solar capacity under its renewable energy portfolio.
The newly commissioned capacity is part of a 300 MW solar component integrated with a 200 MW Renewable Energy Round-The-Clock (RTC) project located in Rajasthan. The Commercial Operation Date has been declared effective from June 14, 2026.
With this addition, the cumulative commissioned capacity of the 300 MW solar component has increased to 250 MW, marking another significant milestone in NTPC Group’s renewable energy expansion strategy.
NTPC Group Capacity Crosses 90.8 GW
Following the commissioning of the 50 MW solar capacity, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Group has risen to 90,857 MW, while its commercial capacity now stands at 88,977 MW.
The development reinforces NTPC’s position as India’s leading power generation company and highlights its growing focus on clean and sustainable energy projects.
NGEL Group Capacity Reaches 10.67 GW
In a separate disclosure, NTPC Green Energy Limited stated that the commercial capacity of the NGEL Group currently stands at 10,621.40 MW. With the latest commissioning, the total installed capacity of the NGEL Group has increased to 10,671.40 MW.
The operationalized 50 MW capacity belongs to Project Sixteen Renewable Power Private Limited, a step-down subsidiary of ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited, which is a joint venture between NTPC Green Energy Limited and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation.

The latest capacity addition aligns with NTPC’s long-term strategy of expanding its renewable energy portfolio and supporting India’s transition towards a low-carbon economy. The company has been aggressively scaling up solar, wind, and hybrid renewable energy projects across the country to contribute to the nation’s clean energy targets.
